In brief
Six key criteria for landowners and buyers when choosing a contractor: reference projects, completion cover, transparency and after-sales support.
Choosing a contractor for your plot, or buying an apartment in a project, is a large and long-term decision. This article is for general information only and does not replace legal or financial advice.
011. See completed projects
A reference list is not enough; seeing completed buildings in person is the most reliable way to judge workmanship, façade detailing and maintenance.
022. Ask about completion cover
Ask plainly what security the contractor provides to ensure the project is finished as promised. If there is none, find out why.
033. Transparency: schedule, specification, payment plan
The technical specification, work schedule and payment or allocation terms should be in writing; verbal promises should be carried into the agreement.
044. Legal documents and corporate structure
Check the company’s registered name, tax and authorisation documents and the status of the building permit and related papers. A corporate structure with departments — architecture, technical, sales — matters for continuity.
055. Communication and point of contact
Find out who your contact will be throughout the process and how quickly your questions will be answered.
066. After-handover support
Ask what process applies after handover for defect notification, warranty and maintenance matters.
